The company went to 3527
Pricetown Rd. in Ruscombmanor Twp. at 3:49 am for smoke
reported to be coming from a garage. Chief 12 arrived on the
scene with light smoke from the garage. Upon further
investigation a burn barrel was found behind the garage and
was determined to be the cause of the smoke condition. Chief
12 gave this report to Chief 34 and recommended a recall.
The company went to Rt.
222 & Rt. 73 in the Southbound lanes just North of 73 for a
reported four vehicle accident with unknown injuries. The
crew from the Engine boarded and collared one patient
complaining of back pain and placed absorbent socks along
the side of the road due to oil along side the roadway.

Working Barn Fire &
An Automatic Fire Alarm 4/13/09
The company went to 32
Gernants Church Rd. in Ontelaunee Twp. at 9:00 am to assist
company 37, 40, 38, 29, and 10, 11, and tanker 32 were on
standby. Ontelaunee command reported the barn had collapsed
when they arrived on the scene and recalled the standby
companies and had Ladder 12 and Engine/Tanker 12 standby in
the church hall parking lot.
The company went
to 1060 Park Rd. at 10:58 am for an automatic fire
alarm. Engine/Tanker 12 arrived on the scene with
nothing showing and sent a crew in the check the
building and found no evident cause for the alarm.
The system was reset and the company was placed
available.

The company went to 302 East
Wesner Road at 3:54 am for a reported garage fire. Assistant 12-1
arrived on the scene and reported a two story garage 25x30?with the
second division well off. Chief 12 had Engine/Tanker 12 lead off
with a 2 1/2" attack line into the second division. A 1 3/4" cross
lay was pulled to protect the exposure building on the B side. The
crew from Ladder 12 pulled another 1 3/4" cross lay to backup the
initial attack crew. Engine 32 laid a 5" supply line from
Engine/Tanker 12 to a hydrant, while Engine 11 laid a second supply
line and pulled another cross lay to protect an exposure building on
the D side. The fire was contained to the second division, and
placed under control at 4:22 am.
The company went to the area
of Park Rd and Chipmunk Dr. at 9:35 pm for a smoke condition in the
area. Chief 12 located the cause of the to be coming from a
greenhouse on Barlet Rd. The cause of the smoke was to be smoke from
a boiler. The assignment was recalled.

The company went to 347 June Ave. at 10:26 pm for an automatic fire
alarm Giorgio Fresh pack in the main hallway. Chief 12 arrived on
the scene with nothing showing from the exterior and building was
evacuated. Engine/Tanker 12 arrived on the scene on side A and
pulled past the building to allow room for Ladder 12 to get in front
of the building on side A. I crew of two did a walk through of the
building and found no apparent cause for the alarm.

Grove Rd. at 3:16 pm to assist Ambulance 520-3 with lifting.
Prior to the response EMS recalled the company.
Company 12 went to 28 Pillar Dr. at 4:27 pm in Ontelaunee
Twp. to assist company 37, and 11 with an odor of smoke in
the basement of a dwelling. Deputy 37 took command while
Chief 12 took interior command. Chief 12 confirmed a strong
odor of smoke in the basement. Engine/Tanker 12 and Engine
11 went back the driveway along with the crew off Ladder 12
to investigate. Two crews went into the basement with TIC's
to check the basement and a crawl space in the basement.
While another crew checked the exterior and found a small
brush fire along side the dwelling. The companies used a PW
can to ensure the small brush fire was out. Company 12
remained on the scene to assist with ventilation of the
dwelling.

Company 12 went to
Tube Dr. in Ontelaunee Twp. at 11:47 am for a possible
building fire to assist company's 37, 11, 40, and EMS
with heavy black smoke coming from the building. Chief 37
arrived on the scene and reported the smoke to be coming
from work maintenance was doing and recalled the assignment.
Company 12 went to 264 Long Leaf Dr. to assist Ambulance
520-3 with extricating a 54 year old male from the second
division complaining of back pain.

Company 12 went to 108 Plaza Dr. at 7:56 pm for a general
fire alarm. Assistant 12-1 arrived on the scene with nothing
showing from the exterior. Chief 12 arrived on the scene and
gave orders to Ladder 12 to stage at the A/B corner of the
building, Engine/Tanker 12 to stage at the hydrant, and
Engine 12 to stage on the B side of the building. A crew of
3 made entry into the building and checked the alarm panal
and found the alarm to be going off on the second division.
The crews checked the entire building and found a faulty
detection on division two in the yellow book section of the
building.

at 9:27am for a single vehicle accident reported
with injuries. Rescue 11 and Deputy 11 along with
Engine 12 and Chief 12 checked the area from the
Ontelaunee Twp line to the Richmond Twp line and
found no accidents in the area.

Engine/Tanker 12 went to
138 Magnolia Ln in Alsace Twp. at 11:44am to assist with an
out of control control burn. The fire extended to a camped,
a boat, and a shed before being knocked down. The crew from
the Engine/Tanker assisted with overhaul and wetting down
the area, while Engine/Tanker 12 stood by on Antietam Rd.
for additional water if needed.
Engine 12 went to Walnuttown Rd. and Pricetown Rd. in
Ruscombmanor Twp at 12:10pm for an accident with injuries.
Engine 12 arrived on the scene with a two vehicle accident
with on vehicle in the roadway and a vehicle in a field with
one patient complaining of shoulder pain and another
refusing any need for EMS. The company placed oil dry on
some minor fluids on the roadway.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm
& An Accident 3/18/09
Company 12 went to 136
South View Rd. at 7:20 am for a carbon monoxide alarm that
was sounding. Engine/Tanker 12 arrived on the scene and
evaluated the patients to see if any were having any
symptoms. No one in the dwelling complained of any symptoms.
The crew from the Engine/Tanker went in to investigate and
metered The basement, division 1, and division 2 and all
readings were negative. The cause was determined to be a
faulty detector. The company issued the home owner a new
detector and went available.
Company 12 and EMS went to Dries Rd. and Park Rd. in
Maidencreek Twp at 5:23 pm for an accident with unknown
injuries. Chief 12 arrived on the scene with a two vehicle
accident with one car in traffic and one off to the side.
All patients were self extricated and not complaining of any
injuries. The crew from Ladder 12 evaluated one patient
until EMS arrived to take a sign off while the rest of the
crew checked for any fluids leaking.

Investigation 3/17/09
Company 12 went to 232
West Walnut Tree Dr. at 1:56 pm to investigate a possible CO
problem in a residence. Engine 12 arrived on the scene and
sent a crew in with a meter to check division 1, division 2,
and the basement and came up with negative readings through
out the structure.
Two Accidents With
Injuries 3/16/09
Company 12, 32, and EMS
went to the area of Hoch Rd and Pleasenthill Rd. at 11:51 am
for a single vehicle accident at with one car reported to be
in a field with one male complaining of neck pain.
Company 12, 11 and EMS
went to Rt. 222 S/B in the area of the CVS for a two vehicle
accident reported to be a head on collision at at 8:37 pm
Asst. 12-1 and Asst. 12-2 arrived on the scene with one
vehicle in traffic at 8:37 pm with one female complaining of
neck, back and shoulder pain in a SUV, a second victim self
extricated complaining of minor back pain a refusing any
treatment. Ladder 12 along with chief 12 arrived on the
scene and extricated the victim from the SUV.

Company 12 went to Cralou
Dr. and Mt. Laurel Rd. in Alsace Twp. for an accident with
unknown injuries with a vehicle into a pole at 4:42 am.
Ladder 12 went to the 200Blk of Main St. in Ontelaunee Twp
to assist with a working dwelling fire at 12:55 pm.
MAIDENCREEK TOWNSHIP, PA -
On November 16, 2008 at 5:31 p.m. the Blandon Fire
Co., Temple Fire Co., along with EMS were dispatched
to 207 Snyder Rd. for a vehicle into a house.
Chief 12 arrived on the
scene along with Asst. 12-2 and reported one
vehicle into the A/D corner of a ranch style home.
Both the driver and passenger were self extricated
and inside the home.
Engine 12 the fire
arriving unit on scene sent its crew inside the home
to assist with patient care and packaging. Ladder
12 arrived shortly behind the engine and sent its
crew to the car with a pw, dry chem, and crash kit
to power down the vehicle and check the structures
stability. The power was turned off to the roof the
vehicle came to rest in. The crew from Engine 12
assisted Blandon EMS and Fleetwood EMS with
packaging and removing two patients from the home.
Companies 12 (Blandon),
and 11 (Temple) remained on the scene and awaited
the tow truck to remove the vehicle from the
structure. Company 11 was released shortly before
the tow company arrived. Once the vehicle was
removed the company placed two studs in the A/D
corner with the help of Gracely Construction to
ensure stability along with placing a tarp over the
hole until Berks Fire and Water was able to get to
the scene the board the structure up. The company
remained on the scene for approx. 1 hr & 57mins.
Units on the scene were
Engine 12, Ladder 12, Engine/Tanker 12, Engine
12-1, Rescue 11, 520-3, 535-3, 560-3, 72-1. and
72-2. Approx. 35 total fire fighters on the
scene.
On November 4th at approx
11:37 am the Berks County Communications Center started
receiving numerous calls for a serious MVA at SR 222 n/b
and Dries rd. This initiated the Communications to
dispatch companies 12 (Blandon), Company 11 (Temple),
EMS 520 (Blandon), 535 (Fleetwood), 670 (Schuylkill
Valley), and 560 (Muhlenberg) for an mva involving 2
vehicles with entrapment and possible fire.
Assistant 12-2 arrived on the
scene and reported a two vehicle MVA with one entrapped
and unresponsive in one vehicle and one self extricated
laying on the shoulder of the highway with negative fire
in either vehicle at his arrival. Engine 12 and Rescue
11 arrived on the scene at approx. 11:44 am and prepared
to put the rescue tools in service to remove the roof of
a Pontiac Grand Prix to gain access to the driver after
being involved in a T-bone collision. While preparing to
extricate the patient a Temple FF was holding C-Spine
while an off duty paramedic evaluated the patient.
Before crews were able to remove the roof the patient
was pronounced DOA.

670-4, 560-2, and multiple PD units from Northern Berks
Regional Police, one Muhlenberg Units, and the Berks
County Corner.
On Sunday

On Thursday January 17th companies 37, 11, 12, & Ladder
10 were dispatched to 225 Peach St. @ Fleetwood
Industries for an automatic fire alarm at 9:49 AM.
Companies arrived on location and did an investigation
of the duct work were the alarm was coming from and
found no evident signs of fire. At 12:34 PM companies
37, 11, 12, & Ladder 10 were dispatched back to the
location for a reported fire in the duct work. On the
scene for the second call of the day was, Truck 12,
Engine 12-1, Engine 12-2, Engine 12-3, Engine 11-1,
Engine 11-2, Rescue 11, & Ladder 10. Crews from
companies 12, & 11 went to the interior of the structure
to search the building for any signs of fire. Crews
found numerous active hot spots and fire within the duct
work. Engine 11-1 stretched a dry line into the building
to standby at the exit of the duct work, another crew
took a high rise pack off Ladder 10 to go in service
with at the stand pipe. Maintenance had cut numerous
access holes within the duct work so crews could shovel
out hot embers and flow water into the duct work. Ladder
10 setup to go to the roof as a precaution while Truck
12 setup at the bag house in case of fire spreading to
the exterior dust collector. The companies extinguished
numerous hot spots. Company 12 & 37 cleared the scene
approximately 5 hours after the initial dispatch.
On
Friday January 4th companies 12 (Blandon), 11 (Temple), Fire
Police, Squad 520 (Blandon BLS) & Medic 538 (Fleetwood ALS) at
5:12pm were dispatched to Rt. 73 & West Wesner Rd. for an accident
reported with injuries. 12-10 arrived on the scene and informed
Berks he had vehicles and 3 patients for patient evaluations by
EMS. Engine 12-1 arrived on the scene, a crew evaluated the patients
untill EMS arrived while another crew performed hazard control. EMS
arrived on the scene and evaluated all the patients for sign offs
(refused medical treatment). Eng. 12-2 went to Rt.
73 & Grove Rd. to
divert all traffic on Rt. 73 while Fire police diverted traffic at
Rt 73 and Park Rd. Company 12 remained on the scene to assist fire
police while awaited the arrival of V&M towing to remove the
vehicles from the roadway.
On
Friday January 4th Companies 12 (Blandon), 32 (Walnuttown),
Squad 520 (Blandon EMS)
and fire police were
dispatched to Rt. 222 and Pleasenthill Rd. for an accident with
unknown injuries in Maidencreek Twp. 12-10 and 12-12 first
arriving on the scene reported 1 car into the driver side of the
tractor trailer with a minor fuel leak and minor injuries. Crews
from Engine 12-1, Engine 12-2, & Truck 12 controlled the fluid
hazards resulting from the vehicle and the tractor trailer while a
crew
stood by with fire extinguishers due to the diesel fuel leak. While
EMS attended to the patients. Company 32 assisted with traffic
control, both Companies remained on the scene until V&M Towing
arrived to remove the vehicles. Congratulations to Kevin C. Becker
for driving Eng. 12-1 to his first accident scene after being
cleared.
Assisting Alsace Manor Fire Company (8)
and Central Fire Company (13) With A Working Fire, Companies 12
(Blandon) and 34 (Ruscombmanor) were dispatched to 107 Greenwood Dr.
in Alsace Twp to fill out the first alarm assignment on a working
structure fire. The home was a single story ranch style dwelling
with a finished garage and basement. The crew from Truck 12 arrived
on scene and assisted with performing a primary search and fire
suppression. The crew from Eng. 12-2 FF Gracely opened the roof for
ventilation while the others assisted with fire suppression. Crews
were evacuated from the structure for a short time while exterior
lines knocked down the heaviest of the fire, shortly after all crews
then reentered the structure to find any remaining fire and to start
performing overhaul operations. While performing overhaul crews
encountered small pockets of fire in a closet, corner room, and some
pockets of fire under the steps and in the walls. The cause of the
fire is still under investigation by the PSP Fire Marshall.
Company 12 (Blandon) was dispatched to Sophia Dr and Park Rd on
11/06/07 at 9:42 A.M. for a reported trash truck on fire. The
additional given to engine 12-2 was a third party call from a
complainant reporting trash on fire inside the body. Upon the
arrival of Engine 12-2 with a crew of 6 they laid 200 Ft. of 5
inch supply line from a hydrant adjacent to the scene as a
precaution. The driver of the truck had dumped the pile of
rubbish in an open lot. Two crews from Engine 12-2 then went in
service with a 200 Ft. 1 3/4" cross lay and a 100 Ft. 1
3/4" trash line for a back up line. Crews quickly knocked down
the fire and went into overhaul mode. Then awaited the arrival
of V&M
towing with a skid loader to spread to pile out to soak it down.
Once the pile was spread out, crews soaked down the pile to
ensure there were no more hot spots. Once all hot spots were
determined out engine 12-2 returned to station to get the Engine
back in service and re-pack hose.
MAIDENCREEK TOWNSHIP, PA. Blandon
Fire Department along with Temple Fire Company, Blandon EMS and
Fleetwood ALS, was dispatched by the Berks County 911 Center for a
vehicle accident with injuries at 10:56 pm, November 2.
The two vehicle accident with one overturned occurred at the
intersections of Park Road and SR 73 in the area of the Turkey Hill
Mini Mart in Maidencreek Township, Berks County PA.
The 911 callers advised the accident was two vehicles overturned at
the intersection.
Blandon Fire Dept Truck 12 with Chief Miller (12-10) arrived and
found 1 pick up truck overturned with all occupants self extricated
and a PT Cruiser. 12-10 reported had one patient in the PT Cruiser
that needed to be packaged with a head injury and the task was
accomplished by Truck 12 and Blandon EMS crew with the packaging and
removal from the auto. Temple Fire Company (R-11), Blandon Engines
12-2 and 12-1 assisted with hazard control.
Due to air bags in both vehicles
being activated and use of seat belts prevented more serious
injuries in this accident.
Companies 12 (Blandon), 32 (Walnuttown), and 45 (Fleetwood),
Squad 520 (Blandon EMS), Squad 537 (Fleetwood ALS) were
dispatched to route 222 N/B for a reported MVA involving 4
vehicles at 10:23 P.M. The additional given to responding units
was one vehicle with entrapment & one patient with chest pain.
Upon the arrival of 12-10 it was determined there was negative
and only 2 vehicles involved with all occupants self extricated.
Truck 12 the first arriving unit on scene evaluated the patients
before EMS arrival and started hazard control and powering down
1 vehicle with heavy damage, shortly after Co. 32 arrived on
location along with engine 12-1 and Brush 12 to assist with the
clean up. Co. 45 was recalled due to negative entrapment. Co's
12 & 32 awaited the arrival of the tow company to remove the
vehicles and were placed available shortly after. Co. 12 arrived
back at station at approx. 11:30 P.M
