Recruitment Blandon Fire Company is always in need of volunteers. If you are 16 years or older and would like to help, we have a place for you. We need help not only in fighting fires and doing rescue, but also as support personal. As a support person, you can help in fundraising events such as the carnival, B-BQ sale, Easter flower sale, Easter egg hunt and children’s Christmas party. If you have an idea for a new fundraiser and would like to organize and run to make money for the fire company, we would be glad to hear from you. If we can get people to volunteer as support personnel this would free up more time for our firemen to devote to fire training. Support Personal are just as important as fighting fires and by doing this you will also be giving back to your community. Blandon Fire Company has regular training every Tuesday night starting at about 6:00PM. Our monthly meeting is held the 2nd Sunday of every month with general meeting starting at 7:00PM Feel free to stop by the station or E-mail us with any questions or comments.
Explorer Post 12 Have you ever wondered what it is like to wear a SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) or wonder what the weight of the fire gear that a firefighter wears is? What it is like to go into a building and not be able to see your hand in front of your face? Do you know the different types of fire extinguishers, which one to use on what type of fire or the correct way to use them? How about what type of knot and the correct way to raise and lower a heavy object or person from a roof or cliff? Would you like to learn First Aid and CPR? Do you want to know what equipment is used for on a ambulance? Do you know how to take a blood pressure, check a pulse, the correct way to secure a patient to the backboard and lift them onto a litter? Do you ever wonder what the duties of a law enforcement officer are or how they work with the fire and ambulance personal? These are just a few of the topics that the newly formed Explorer Post in Blandon will touch on as well as show you the need for safety personnel in your community. Join us once a month to see why so many people do the different jobs that are needed to protect the people of your community. To qualify for the Explore Post, all youth participants, male or female, must be at least 14 years of age and completed the eighth grade but not yet 21 years old. The annual participation fee is $7 per individual. Meetings will be held at the Blandon Fire Company, Station 12, along West Wesner Road. Sessions will held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and in addition, participants are welcomed to attend Company 12 training night sessions which are held every Tuesday evening starting at approximately 6:00 p.m. If you are interested and would like to attend or have additional questions, please respond to 1212@BlandonFire.Com
